A civil war between the ethnic armies and citizens against the Junta started in 2021 right after the military seized power from Aung Sun Su Kyi. It intensified towards the end of 2023, and coupled with compulsory conscription by both the Junta and local militias, led many to flee into neigboring countries, especially Thailand, which shares a long, porous border. Living Waters Ministry seeks to respond to these needs in various outreach & humanitarian programs.
