PRAYER REQUEST: We are in the process of negotiating for a 2,400 sqm land to serve Nakornping Hospital and its Cancer Center, with a holistic approach with the larger space in mind. The existing home in the city will still be rented for another year. Please pray for the negotiation process and the funding for the land.
After some negotiation, he is asking for THB 6.5 million (RM 830,000). We have saved & set aside 4.0 m Baht, and are asking for further reduction of the price, while seeking to raise the balance.
Please pray that we're able to agree to a fair price for the land, and are able to raise fund for the purchase price, and the development costs for the land - repurpose the old house and to build an office (as required by law), a meeting room and staff quarters. For this whole project to be completed by the 3rd Quarter of 2026, our goal is to raise a total of THB 7.5 million or RM 1 million.
Thank you,
Kian Leong, Su Foong
After shelving the hospital building proposal in early 2020, we explored land ownership as a sustainability option due to pandemic & the uncertainties. As this were was driven by external pressures & fears, we paused and started saving for the next opportunity. During our 20th anniversary of moving to Thailand, I sensed a prompting from the Lord to 'put your feet to the ground' ie. staking the land for the future of the ministry and the people we serve. We explored several options and for one property, almost placed a deposit for it before we canceled the purchase.
While at the bank to cancel the bank draft, I ran into Pastor Kiat, who shared that he was looking to sell his land to fund a school building for his church. The land is just 1.5 km from the Northern Cancer Centre, and 7.5 km from Nakornping Hospital, in the Mae Rim district, about 30 minutes north of Living Waters Home.
Land Size: 2,400 sqm in 2 plot of land, with a 600 sqm 'public land' between the 2 plots that we can utilise.
A double storey house of 200 sqm that can be repurposed for a shelter to sit in 30 beds.
The limitation & problem
For the past 17 years, Living Waters Foundation has served cancer patients, the seriously ill, and victims of war by providing a simple shelter in the city. Today, our rented facility has reached its limits where we had to turn turn away some patients referred from the Northern cancer center, due to space & distance. The uncertainty of rental renewal also put this work at risks each year and restricts any expansion or improvement of the property. Most painfully, limited space affects what every sick person needs: a safe, quiet, dignified place to rest and heal, instead of having the owner & neighbors interfering & complaining.
The Opportunity & Prayer
Please pray for the negotiation of the land, and the funding & development for this land. With a stream going around it, surrounded by trees, its just perfect to start a holistic center for healing, rest & recovery for the outpatients, war victims and those that face war trauma.
Entrance from village main road, 1.5 km from Cancer Center.
2,400 sqm land, with an old house that can be repurpose to be a shelter for patients.
Has an open ground where we can build an office, staff quarters & meeting room
